the plan for next week

We have just been getting prepared to move on from Croatia; we went to Zadar to buy our ferry ticket to Ancona in Italy. It seemed like a good idea to check where we would park the van, which gate to use and which ferry to catch. There are several ferries that leave Zadar to different places.

It is quite congested with ferry traffic, so we needed to see exactly where to go, and what time to give ourselves to get to Zadar. We sail to Italy on Tuesday 12/08/2014. We probably need to leave our campsite at 0800, to get to Zadar by 0900, even though we only sail at 1200. This is because the traffic could make the journey time longer, and they load the ferry from 1000. We sail on the Jadrolinija line.

While we were in Zadar, Carol climbed to the top of the cathedral bell-tower, and got some lovely photos of the town from a high vantage point.

We then get into Ancona at 1800 on Tuesday, and the plan is to spend a couple of days at the coast just south of Ancona; there are a few campsites to choose from but we are probably going to stay at La Risacca. It has taken quite a bit of researching on the internet to find a site that had space for us.

La Risacca is halfway between Ancona, and Giulianova. Then we will drive to a site on the northern ringroad in Rome, on the Tiber river, to use as a base for exploring Rome for a week or two.

Then we shall meander up through Italy and take the coastal road into France.
