Franglais washing and Gassing it

Lundi 13/10/2013

Laundry day, yay! This launderette supplies its own washing powder, and has 8kg machines, a kind of medium large, which is handy. I went and found the tourist office to use their wifi. We did some shopping, and got home for lunch, before going off to explore Fleury, a lovely florified village.

We went into the local estate agents to see what village houses they had, which are not in the inflated price bracket. Let’s see what one or two of these look like inside. My rubbish French got a good bit of practice since the agent had worse English.

Getting back to the van, we met an English retiree who came by for a chat. He used to fix up old caravans and gave me some good advice on how to get an adaptor to take French gas, and where I might get it from, which is great. We are on our reserve bottle of British gas so we need to sort out the gas adaptor pretty soon. The gas itself is no problem, we just need a small fitting to attach it to our van.

We had a look at our latest British pal's Gas arrangement and he has one Brit and one French gas cylnder. And his French cylinder is Butane rather than Propane. Butane freezes, but he says he just wraps his in a blanket! Better to get propane but the butane is I think, cheaper.

Anyway he has given us the name of a van dealership in Béziers which can supply us with the parts and connectors, so we are going to drive over and see if we can sort our gas out.

We might be able to fix the lock on our Gas locker too.

The weather is dull today, overcast and only 20', so a good day to get some jobs done.

We watched "Run Fat Boy, Run" last night and had a good laugh. I haven't done any running or played any tennis, but the bike is getting plenty of outings.
