Run down vans, and wide open views
Sunday 3rd November
I went into town alone to get a few things,
while Carol did some darning, and she phoned me to say I was needed to help a
fellow camper. His old van would not start and he wanted a jump start.
We tried my battery booster, and it tuned
his engine over, but it wouldn’t start. So next we tried jump leads from my
battery with my engine running.
Still no joy, and he had a mechanic come out
and do something with the diesel injectors, and was on his way.
We had a lazy Sunday afternoon, slept a
bit, and watched a film. And Downton Abbey an hour later than in England. Lady
Mary rescues her pigs and has a mud fight, while her servants sip sherry in
their quarters. Great bit of English period telly!
Monday 4th November
Setting off to see more houses; we have
lined up three viewings, and all the houses have great views. The first view
was stunning, but the house had only a small side terrace and unusable garden
on a steep slope. This overlooks the town of Le Boulou
The second was inhabited by an eccentric English woman who
had sprayed lavender house freshener all over the house, and had tiled her
floors with wall tiles from the 80s. She had a large veggie garden and a pond
with tiny fish in it. It was so memorable I can hardly remember going. The
third had amazing views, this time of Mount Canigou, which is snow covered in
winter, but hardly any house. Just two bedrooms. Miles from anywhere and up a track that was quite difficult by motorbike, no thanks!
We were told that the long way down from
the mountains went through three pretty villages, and they were kind of pretty
but the views were amazing. Then, quite lost and realizing I had left my satnav
in the first house, we found our way slowly back to Le Boulou, and a petrol
station, just in time.
After returning to the agents and then back to the house with views over Le Boulou, to collect my
satnav, we went to see a fourth house in another village in the afternoon.
Quite strange and very Spanish in design.
Today’s riding around on the bike has taken
us to some incredible views, and lovely countryside, and we arrived home
exhausted.
