Back to Patong en route to Krabi

We came back to Patong to collect David's portrait, before heading onwards to Krabi and towards the mountains of the nearby national park. Mui made some last minute alterations at our request:

We changed our plans so we could overnight again in Patong, and took a chance on a small 2 star hotel or hostel, paying about 12 or 13 pounds for the room. It turns out to be a lovely place, and we are on the fourth floor. No lift and no swimming pool, but we have air conditioning and a small shower en suite bathroom for the price, which is unbelievable. We went out for supper at a restaurant that we have eaten at before, very inexpensive but exquisite food. We had to see the artist before he took a week holiday himself with his family.

The portrait is lovely, and captures David's earnest gaze as he works, with an Arri professional camera. We had the artist make a few minor changes, it was difficult for him as he was working from a small photo. Once we enlarged the image on a laptop he was able to see more detail. Funny how just small subtle changes can capture a likeness, and the right expression.

So tomorrow we are heading for Krabi, and the Phanom Bencha Mountain resort for a few days, before coming back for a night nearby to Phuket international airport.
