Pullenvale forest walk with Keith

Sunday 19th January Keith very kindly collected us from the sunshine coast and we drove down to Pullenvale, the semi-rural suburb of Brisbane. This is a lovely area of rolling hills and lovely forest walks. Keith and I swopped stories of our career paths since leaving medical school and generally caught up with life events on the drive down.

We went for a walk through the forested hills with Keith's dog, Scruff, listening out for the calls of the native birds and trying to identify them and catch sight of them.

Marietjie was a wonderful host, and shared some of her superb collection of wines from her cellar, and her wine knowledge with us. Keith and Marietjie have designed and built a spectacular modern house in the hills with amazing views of the surrounding countryside, very close to nature.

If we all look a bit older than as medical students, that has to be expected, but it has been a true joy to catch up with old friends and see that the person hasn't changed at all.
I was so glad to see Keith again, with his family and looking so happy and content.

If Keith has worked extremely hard to make a success of his career, Marietjie has done an equally impressive job of being a home-maker in Australia, and they have two bright and athletic sons who will make them very proud. It was lovely to spend a day with them all.
