Property search in Céret

More property hunting today; we looked at three maisons de villages, all just off the main street area, and two very close to the high street.

The largest of the houses we saw is already in use as an art gallery, showing modern artists, maybe a dozen or so at a time, and mainly painting, with a little sculpture. They have been trading for fifteen years and the owner is ill and retiring. They sell pieces of art worth about €5,000 - €20,000 each, and take a 50% cut, the artist taking the rest. Their place had the ground floor and also part of the first floor given over to gallery space. It was very interesting talking to the owners, and seeing their working studio space.

The other two houses were a little smaller, and one was not really suitable, requiring a bit of alteration of a garage on the ground floor. The third property looked ideal, it had been used as a tobacconist and newsagent on the ground floor and already had a large plate glass window and grill, and steel door.

The downstairs gallery space would be 30m2, and then living accomodation with three bedrooms and an open plan lounge dining kitchen on the first floor. No garden or roof terrace, but affordable.

No pictures to show at this time.
